On January 1, Radio Holland started a pilot project for a Managed Services Agreement (MSA) with ship owner APM Maersk, starting with 17 ships in the pilot. Per 1 May, this pilot has now become a full Managed Services Agreement and the number of ships has grown to 78 vessels in the meantime. This contract arranges that Radio Holland will take care of maintenance and service on board APM Maersk vessels. The contract with APM Maersk is a substantial addition to the service order portfolio of Radio Holland. Other companies who concluded an MSA with Radio Holland are, amongst others, SMIT Vessel Management Services, Teekay Corporation (USA), Ibaizabal (Spain), Beluga (Germany), Norgas Carriers (Norway) and Masterbulk (Singapore).

Radio Holland concludes that there is a trend visible in the global shipping industry; Ship owners are looking for a structural and efficient solution for the maintenance of their electronic equipment on board. Up to recently Radio Holland has seen many ship owners organizing the whole process of maintenance and service jobs themselves. This is a very time consuming and specific process, which is why ship owners start looking more and more for an organization fully equipped for this type of work.

The Managed Services Agreement addresses this need. Radio Holland is uniquely positioned to support ship owners with its global network of 60 offices along the shipping routes. Radio Holland can offer unique service with its Global Service System (GSS), a global database containing data and management information on fleets, maintenance info and equipment status, information which is shared with the ship owner.  Next to that Radio Holland offers expertise, quality and a professional approach towards service, 24/7.

By signing MSA’s, Radio Holland commits itself to perform at the highest quality service levels. The ship owner will supply Radio Holland with the necessary and timely information to assure optimum service performance. Targets in the contract are to maintain operational functionality of the navigation and communication equipment on board and avoid ship delays in departure. Radio Holland will support the ship owner to manage its fleet as effectively as possible.
