New navigation equipment for Mega-yacht Golden Boy II
Radio Holland USA, secured a contract with Luxury Yacht Group, a premier yacht management and charter operation based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to refit the Golden Boy II with new Furuno radars and navigation equipment in addition to SeaTel satellite communications gear. The contract included the first sale and installation of the SeaTel 4006 VSAT system by RHUSA. The contract also included airtime with RH Connect.
Rupert Connor, owner of Luxury Yacht Group, indicated that the Radio Holland global service network was key in the awarding of this project. Luxury Yacht Group has several other similar projects slated for 2007-2008 and RH is involved with each project. The Project Management Department (PMD) worked with a naval architect, and the Knight & Carver Yacht Center in San Diego, CA to co-ordinate the four-month refit of the 115’ Golden Boy II. Along with a complete exterior paint job, the Golden Boy II also benefited from a complete mast rework to include upgraded radars and navigational equipment as well as satellite communication and entertainment systems.
The SeaTel WaveCall 4006 provides broadband satellite communication capability for file and image transfer, video conferencing, e-mail, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and database backup. The system utilizes the DAC 2200 antenna control unit. The vessel also benefited from the installation of a SeaTel Coastal 30 satellite television system with feeds to each of its five staterooms as well as the salon. Installation of Furuno Radar 1 and Furuno Radar 2 along with a Furuno GPS and heading sensor completed the mast upgrades.
